Summer Adventures at St. Francis of Assisi
Week 4 – Going Buggy
St. Francis of Assisi Preschool held its fourth week of Summer Adventures camp. Going Buggy was a week filled with educational experiences and fun. The 3-6 year old students learned how to identify insects – 3 body parts, 6 legs, antennae – and then used magnifying glasses to examine different types of insects. They created glittery fireflies, egg carton ants, sparkly-sequined butterflies and many more. There were bug parades and lots of flapping, hopping, crawling and creeping as they imitated their buggy friends.
Summertime is a-buzz with all sorts of interesting insects – grab a net or use your hands and see what you can find! If you find one that you can’t identify, you can visit www.whatsthatbug.com for help in identification. It is a great kid and parent friendly site dedicated to all things buggy!

Week 3 – Pirates and Princesses
St. Francis of Assisi Preschool held its third week of Summer Adventures camp. This week of Pirates and Princesses for the 3-6 year old children was filled with treasure maps, scavenger hunts, and lots of pirate loot to adorn both princesses and pirates alike. The 1/2 day camp has been a boat-load of fun for all involved. Summer is sailing by quickly, but there are still 3 more weeks of Summer Adventures to share with the wee little ones.

Week 2 – Digging for Dinosaurs
Week 2 of St. Francis of Assisi’s summer camp series was another success! Digging for Dinosaurs was “dino-mite” for the many 3 – 6 year-old children as they learned all about these prehistoric pals. They made papier-mâché dinosaur eggs, excavated a sandy site for fossils and bones, made models of dino-skeletons out of different shaped pasta and many more fun activities. Each age level has their own classroom and age-specific activities to help them to discover more about this fascinating time in our history and the wondrous creatures that inhabited it. Dinosaurs rock!
We are looking forward to several more weeks of fun in our Summer Adventures camp!

Week 1 – Underwater Adventures
St. Francis of Assisi Preschool hosted its first week of a 6-week series of summer camps. Underwater Adventures was a big hit for the many 3 -6 year-old children who attended and for their families. The children spent the morning exploring the sea creatures, sharing stories from the Bible that relate to the sea or water: Jonah and the whale, Jesus walking on water, Noah’s ark. The children came home each day with a colorful sea-creature craft they created themselves and they had plenty of time to enjoy the playground and share a snack (goldfish, of course!) together.
We are looking forward to several more weeks of fun in our Summer Adventures camp!
