NEW EXCITING OPPORTUNITY (For rising 8th – 12th graders)
PEER MINISTRY PROGRAM
The Catholic Community of St. Francis of Assisi Peer Ministry program strives to develop strong Catholic leaders and Christian disciples to serve in the various components of the Middle and High School Youth Ministry Programs of the parish and the greater community.
Peer Ministry team members should: • Have a personal understanding of Jesus and a willingness to share that understanding with others • Possess an openness to growing in faith • Be willing to have a servant’s attitude, putting others before themselves • Be spiritually and emotionally healthy • Be free of serious wrong-doing in their life • Be performing well in school • Be entering grades 8 through 12 for the 2012-13 school year
Peer Ministry team members will also be expected to: • Participate in a Peer Ministry Training Program (several opportunities will be offered over the course of the school year) • Serve in three ministry areas (details on application) • Attend appropriate planning meetings for their ministry areas • Participate regularly in Middle School or High School Faith Formation events • Act in a way befitting a Christian disciple
As a member of the Peer Ministry team you will experience hard work, lots of fun, and the support and encouragement of the vibrant faith community of St. Francis of Assisi. In addition, a sense of fulfillment and accomplishment, spiritual challenge and growth, and the satisfaction of serving others will be yours! Your involvement as a Peer Minister will call and challenge you to be more than you are today. Are you up for the task?!?

Youth Ministry Freshmen Retreat
The YM Freshmen Retreat, open to all parish rising high school freshmen, is a spiritual and social weekend retreat, which offers participants an opportunity to have fun and renew themselves in mind, body and spirit! Using the life and teachings of our patron, St. Francis, as an inspiration, the retreat consists of a ropes course, a mixture of small and large group discussions, presentations, prayers, activities and concludes with the celebration of Eucharist on Sunday, 9/9/2012 at 5:30pm at St. Francis of Assisi. Families will join their youth for Liturgy and take them home afterwards. There will be ample amount of time to enjoy the company of old friends as well as meet new ones. The retreat will provide an excellent opportunity to form community with youth from your high school as well as the parish community. Be sure to invite any new friends from St. Francis that you may have met over the summer.

SUMMER OPPORTUNITIES:
St. Francis Inn Trip (Rising Juniors & Seniors) June 18-22 2012
The St. Francis Inn Trip is an opportunity to minister with the staff at St. Francis Inn, in Philadelphia, PA. St. Francis Inn, a ministry of Holy Name Province, is a community composed of religious and lay people called to minister with the Franciscan spirit to the poor, homeless, alienated and forgotten of inner city Philadelphia. By means of a soup kitchen, a thrift store, a men’s shelter and a women’s day center the inn provides basic needs of food, clothing, shelter and realization of self-dignity to those whom they serve. ONLY one spot remains! We are in need of a male chaperone. Must be Level “C” certified.

Youth Works (MS & HS) Mission Trip to Atlanta July 8-13 2012
Rising 7th through 12th grade youth of the Catholic Community of St. Francis of Assisi are invited to participate in a Mission Trip through YouthWorks Inc. to Atlanta, GA, Sunday, July 8 through Friday, July 13, 2012.
