The Catholic community of St. Francis is, as the mission statement reads, “one family living in community,” where “all people are gifted with God’s grace and called to build God’s kingdom on earth.”

From Left to Right: Jason Lillis, Frank Lesko, Kathleen Owen, Terri Layer, Jackie Adamo, Sheila Read, and Trevor Thompson
We believe that all baptized Christians are given gifts (or charisms) through the Holy Spirit for a life of ministry and discipleship. Some have the gift of hospitality, others writing; some music and the arts, others administration; some prayer, others teaching; and some healing, others works of mercy. I pray that you are able to use your gifts in many ways on your life’s journey, especially in your family life, you places and positions of employment, and your everyday actions. We are also called to bring our gifts to the Church so that together we might be a light of God’s kingdom of justice and peace, faith and hope, and love and acceptance in the world.
Rooted in this sense of God’s giftedness, we invite you to consider how God is calling you to get involved in the many ministries in the three areas of Pastoral Ministries - Family Life, Care and Wellness, and Justice and Peace. Our mission is to offer an engaging and collaborative array of ministries that deepen the life of faith, justice, and wholeness of all our parishioners and respond in compassion to our community’s needs.
With many, many ministries, St. Francis can be an overwhelming and confusing place to know where you are most needed. Please contact us if you are unsure how your gifts might find a home in our faith community. I’d also encourage you to talk to other parishioners and ask them how they are involved. You can find updates on the latest volunteer opportunities in the parish bulletin and on the website here, and you can get a better understanding of ministries and access contact information of ministry leaders on the web. Whether you are looking to construct a new building for a homeless family, or facilitate a workshop on immigration, or work the community garden, or visit the homebound, or serve on our wellness committee, or share your faith journey with the men of our parish, we have something for you. Yes, the Spirit is very much alive in this parish, but we need you to bear much fruit.
I look forward to meeting and getting to know each of you better in time. Please be in touch if there is anything I might do to help you and your ministry fulfill the parish’s mission “to build God’s kingdom on earth.” If you’d like to read about the “good news” occuring in the many ministries of the parish, check out our “Good News Blog.”
Peace and all good,
