Our Mission
The mission of St. Francis of Assisi’s Job Connections Ministry is to encourage and support men and women while they are in the job search process, whether or not they are in-between jobs, actively seeking a new position while employed, or merely want to learn how to take charge of their career.
We are an instruction and support ministry that provides encouragement, information, networking, coaching, spiritual guidance, and job search skills training in a Catholic Christian setting.
What we do
Professionally trained volunteer coordinators and volunteer speakers provide answers to their questions concerning the job search. This interaction is advantageous to participants who can discuss their own needs face-to-face with experts. The atmosphere is friendly and supportive – one where participants can explore employment and career possibilities with guidance from coordinators trained to help people sharpen their job-seeking skills.
Areas of Ministry
Prayer and encouragement, spiritual support, job search skills training, career counseling and brainstorming, helping families cope with job loss, networking and job leads, resume review and assistance, interview training, financial counseling, one-on-one job search coaching and assistance with the job search.
Activities and Events
We meet on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month from January through October and on the second Wednesday in November and December, from 8:30 to 10:00 am. We maintain a member only access web site with employment related resources, including job leads, a resume posting site, and articles relating to the job search process.
Our meetings are held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 11401 Leesville Road, Raleigh in the Anthony Hall Founders Room.
Goals and Objectives
Volunteer coordinators and volunteer speakers provide answers to their questions concerning the job search process. This interaction is advantageous to participants who can discuss their needs face-to-face with our volunteers and clergy. The atmosphere is friendly and supportive-one where participants can explore employment and career possibilities with guidance from our volunteers to develop and sharpen their job search skills.
Needs of the Ministry
We need volunteers to join our leadership team and assist us in planning programs, leading the meetings, obtaining speakers and setting up the meeting space.
