Resources to Support Your Marriage and Your Family
Great Date Nights – Growing in Kindness and Generosity
Our date nights support your marriage – the second Friday of each month at 6:30 PM in Founder’s Room (click on the map below for directions)
- March 13
- April 10
Each date night begins with Childcare opening at 6:30 pm, and at 6:40 pm there will be a 10-15 minute reflection on marriage by our ministry team. Reflections are based on one of the “7 Principles for Making Marriage Work” from the book of the same name by Dr. John Gottman. Then, we’ll send you out for a date night with your partner with a small handout that might help guide your conversation on your date with your partner. We hope that these evenings will be a chance for you and your spouse to really connect with one another by asking questions (good, helpful, non-confronational questions) and telling stories (how you fell in love, or what your hopes and dreams are in your relationship). By sharing these things, you’ll grow closer to your spouse!
Childcare available for children ages 2-12 between 6:30 and 9:00 PM on Date Nights. Call Jason Lillis at 919-847-8205 x244 for more information on childcare, or any other questions you have, or click here to reserve childcare.
Childcare will be held in room 204 of Clare Hall – click the map below to show the location:
Subscribe to our mailing list for young families
We know that young families have busy lives, and it can be hard to keep in touch with everything going on at St. Francis of Assisi. That’s why each week we’re committed to creating and sending out to you a quick email with ways of connecting your faith life at St. Francis with your family life in your household. This email list is available to all young families – whatever your household looks like!
Here’s what you can expect from this newsletter:
- It will arrive at 8pm on Wednesday evenings, right after the kids (if you have them) go to bed
- There will be a short-ish message to give you a heads up about the coming weekend at St. Francis (sometimes I get wordy, feel free to call me out on that)
- We’ll provide a link for you to look ahead to the scripture readings for the coming weekend
- We’ll provide a link to a YouTube video to listen ahead for a praise song that we’ll use the next weekend
- We’ll provide links to ways of getting connected at St. Francis of Assisi
If you have any questions, you can contact Jason Lillis, Family Life Coordinator, at firstname.lastname@example.org
Many of us manage marriage as a series of choices between his desires and her desires, between “peace at any price” and “letting it all hang out.” Because they move us to extremes, these options don’t bring us together. With The Third Option, you can learn how to break through the clutter of past baggage and misunderstandings and build an effective, loving relationship.
The Third Option is:
- A skills-based group program
- 14 session cycle; couples can start at any time
- Helpful for any marriage – from brink of divorce to solid ground.
- Both spouses do not need to attend
- Educational focus rather than counseling
- No fee
The Third Option is being sponsored by the Catholic Diocese of Raleigh. For more information, call Jason Lillis, Coordinator of Family Life at St. Francis of Assisi, at 919-847-8205 x244.

Retrouvaille means recovery. Retrouvaille is a weekend experience designed to help a couple re-establish communication and to gain insight into themselves as individuals and as a couple. Couples do not share with others on the weekend. The Retrouvaille Weekend offers those experiencing problems within their marriage a fresh way of looking at their marriage. These are not counseling sessions but peer ministry in its best form. After the weekend couples are provided with a follow-up series. The weekend starts at 7pm on Friday and lasts until 6pm on Sunday. There are six post-weekend Saturday sessions lasting from 1pm to 4:30pm. On-going support is available after that if the couple desires it.
For more information please call: 1-800-470-2230 or visit the web site at www.retrouvaille.org; or contact Bill & Luann Roche, Coordinators for Retrouvaille of NC, at (434) 793-0242 or email@example.com.
Other events for married couples are offered throughout the year, including a Valentine celebration and Anniversary Mass, and will be advertized in both the bulletin and the Events Page of the website.
